8 Habits of Remarkably Successful People
via 5 Things Really Smart People Do
Kevin Daum, author for Inc., has compiled a list of actions individuals may take to explore their world and become a “life-long-learner.” He mentions that “you assume learning comes naturally,” but he also contends that learning really “takes more work” and that we need to “work hard to stay open-minded.”

The general idea of being open minded, and willing to adjust to change reminded me of an NHPR article I listened to last week. Some teachers in rural areas in the United States have discovered podscasts, those students that may have transportation issues, excessive absences can still learn. The teachers tape their lessons, some lessons have some form of visual or power point presentation. The students listen to the podcasts at home and then the classroom time (3 times a week) is used to correct their homework assigned from the podcast, not to lecture. The students like it because they can stop the podcast and listen to any section they do not understand. The teachers liked it but most importantly they realized students are not learning the same way, we have all these technology ,therefore they needed to adapt to the new times. The teachers were open minded and adjusted to meet the new demands of the 21st Century student. A win-win! Enjoyed the article, thank you for your post.
